Why Care?

Getting that hot shower every morning may seem simple to you. And it may seem like there's always plenty of water available, no matter what you're doing—showering, washing your car, getting a drink, or filling water balloons.

But even here in the United States, some water sources are shrinking because of increasing demand. And because more is being used, more is being removed from rivers, lakes, and aquifers—water that the whole environment depends on. Much of that water requires heating, and that requires burning natural gas or using electricity, which usually means the release of carbon dioxide—a gas that contributes to global warming. Installing an efficient showerhead can cut down on the amount of water you use and the energy needed to heat it. And don't worry—it won't mean washing your hair under a trickle.
